INAUGURATION OF 2 COMMUNITY STUDY CENTRES IN DIOCESE OF DURGAPUR  

Community Study Centres (CSC) caters to the needs of school going as well as non-school going children, where children are provided with an enabling environment of learning and development. These CSCs are managed by the Diocesan Women’s Fellowship through the members of the community including the parents and women’s groups.  

The two projects will cater to children of people affected by leprosy in Purulia and girls from Muslim and Hindu communities vulnerable to trafficking. These projects were inaugurated on 11th April, 2007 by Ms. Ruby Beech, the Vice President designate of Methodist Church UK . After laying the foundation of Inter Faith Community Study
Center
in Bankura Ms. Beech said that education removes darkness in the life of individual.  

It is the source of empowerment of children to become good citizens of the country.  

Sixty children from the slum areas have been admitted to this center.  Most of the children are from the Muslim 
and Hindu faith.  There were about 500 people from different faiths who attended the programme. 

Thereafter, on 12th April Ms. Ruby Beech inaugurated another community study center in Purulia.  
These children are of people affected by leprosy.  The children displayed their talents by performing songs and 
dance.  They project the culture of Purulia.
