It is again a pleasure to communicate with you through this e-newsletter.  God's goodness to us is beyond any measure.  Our young people are revived through different missional activities of CNI at different Dioceses and thereby getting equipped with skills of leadership.....more

Youth Leadership Formation for Transformation

'I have attended many programmes in my life but no programme has enabled me to develop my skills of leadership so much as this one' was a thrilling testimony shared by a delegate from the Diocese of North East India at the valedictory service conducted on 26th November 2007 on the completion of the Certificate Course on Youth Leadership Development organized by the Church of North India from 15th to 26th November 2007 at the CNI Centre for Human Potential Development, Nagpur.

EKTA - 2007: Awakening of Maharashtra Christian Youth.  

For the first time in its history 130 youth from different Dioceses of Church of North India in Maharashtra came together for EKTA (Unity), the regional youth festival organized at Union of Biblical Seminary, Pune on 10th and 11th November 2007.  The West Indian State of Maharashtra has six Dioceses under the Church of North India namely Pune, Marathwada, Kolhapur, Bombay, Nagpur and Nasik.

CNI Participated in the Workshop on Community Development, Gabarone , BOTSWANA

Mr. Mervin Macwan and Ms. Angela Nag from the Church of North India attended the "Workshop on Community Development" at Gabarone , Botswana organized by the Council for World Mission from 18th to 31st October 2007. The workshop was hosted by United Council of Churches in Southern Africa (UCCSA), Synod of Botswana (Botswana Council of Churches).

Building Youth for Social Transformation: Youth Camp of Jabalpur Diocese

The Diocesan Youth Fellowship Committee of Jabalpur Diocese and the Students Christian Movement of India organized a Youth Camp at Christ Church Boy's Senior Secondary School, Jabalpur under the theme 'Building Youth for Social Transformation' on 7th and 8th November 2007 where 128 youth participated out of which 77 represented

Diocesan Youth Fellowship Council vows to proclaim "Lord is our Banner"

The Durgapur Diocesan Youth Fellowship Council was held on 31 August 2007 with 52 youth members from different pastorates at the St. Michael's School auditorium, Durgapur. Mr. Daniel Thomas, Diocesan Secretary; Revd. N. C. Tudu, Diocesan Treasurer; Mr. Kamakhya Biswas, Secretary, DDYF; Revd. Swapan Dorman, President, DDYF; and Mr. Sudipta Singh, Programme Director, CNI Synod, graced the occasion.

Crimes against children at record high

 

Youth and children comprise more than 55 per cent of India 's population. Yet, be it abuse, rape or kidnapping, crimes against some 400 million of these children are at an all-time high. According to a National Human Rights Commission report released on Monday India has witnessed a 4 per cent increase in crimes against children below 18 years.  .....more

Caste aside by private sector   

A study has found that Dalits and Muslims face discrimination in the private job sector just on the basis of their names. The study, by University Grants Commission chairperson Professor Sukhdeo Thorat for his Indian Institute of Dalit Studies, has found that fewer people with Dalit or Muslim names find jobs in the private sector than equally qualified persons with high caste Hindu names....more

Financial aid to girl child hiked  

The Delhi Cabinet today cleared & proposal for substantial enhancement of financial benefits to the girl child with an aim to overcome the decline in child sex ratio. The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.   Mrs. Dikshit said that the government is concerned about the decline in girl child sex ratio and has hence decided to hike incentives for the birth ...more

Orissa AIDS widows to get pension  

The Orissa government has announced a pension scheme for AIDS widows. This pension is meant exclusively for widows and not for other family members of persons who have died of AIDS. Health Minister Duryodhan Majhi on Wednesday said the scheme would be the first of its kind in the country ....more
