Building Youth for Social Transformation: Youth Camp of Jabalpur Diocese  

The Diocesan Youth Fellowship Committee of Jabalpur Diocese and the Students Christian Movement of India organized a Youth Camp at Christ Church Boys' Senior Secondary School, Jabalpur under the theme 'Building Youth for Social Transformation' on 7th and 8th November 2007 where 128 youth participated out of which 77 represented 29 pastorates and 51 represented 6 different Units of the Students Christian Movement of India from the Mid-India Region.

The camp was inaugurated by the Rt. Rev. Dr. Prem Chand Singh, Bishop of Jabalpur Diocese, Church of North India. In his keynote address Bishop Singh challenged the delegates to follow the teachings and life of Jesus so that through their works they can bring about social transformation.  The other dignitaries present on the occasion include Mrs. Nora Singh, President of the Jabalpur Diocesan Women's Fellowship for Christian Service, Mr. Moses Gaur, Programme Secretary of Students Christian Movement of India for the Mid-India Region, Mr. N. K. Boro, Diocesan Treasurer, Mrs. W. Nair, Principal of Christ Church Girls’ Senior Secondary School, Rev. Ajay Martin, and Mr. Atul A. Arthur, Youth Director of Jabalpur Diocese.

The Camp registered colorful cultural programmes and sporting events competitions where both boys and girls participated with great interest and enthusiasm.  Finally on the last day the new Diocesan Youth Fellowship Committee was elected to lead the Diocesan youth until its next triennium with Mr. Bernard P. Lal, Mr. Shitij Cyril Jacob and Ms. Eva Samuel as its President, Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
