Paulus Nemu Memorial Church inaugurated in Purulia  

In 1860 the first conversion took place in Purulia, in West Bengal by the CMS missionary.  The first man to accept Christianity was Paulus Nemu a local man.  Paulus Nemu who was a man of God gather 34 people from Purulia and went to Ranchi and stayed to learn about Christ.  With this teaching nine people accepted Christianity.  They later came back to Jargo and established a congregation.  

With the formation of the Church Of North India this church was handed over to the Diocese of Durgapur.  The church was a small mud church and with the initiative of the Bishop Probal kanto Dutta and the local pastorate committee a new church building was formed.  With much joy and happiness this church was inaugurated on Sunday 4th November 2007 with a meaningful Thanksgiving service.  The Bishop Probal kanto Dutta spoke at the occasion.  Later people shared a common meal.
