The
Youth Festival 2007 of Diocese of North East India was held at Endle
Hostel, Tezpur from 23rd to 26th October 2007
under the theme “Dealing with
Time”. The festival drew a gathering of 130 youth from various
pastorates of the Diocese. Rev.
Michael Herenz, Diocesan Youth Director inaugurated the Festival. In the
evening devotion led by him, Rev. Michael Herenz challenged the
delegates to build the life of high moral value and become a true
witness of Christ wherever they are placed. Mr.
Mr.
Jocky John Youth President and a renowned Advocate in Guwahati High
Court led the session on Right to Information Act. Dr. Anujit Baruah,
Medical Suprintedent St. Luke’s Hospital, Chabua and Dr. Mrs. Madhu
Baruah, talked on the topic HIV/AIDS, Prevention is cure. Rev. Pradip
Kawa, Coordinator DBSS DNEI spoke on the Panchayati Raj, Peoples
Democracy. He talked on the various aspects of Gram Sabha and Panchayati Raj. Mr. Jones Ingty Kathar, IAS spoke on
the theme “the role of Christian youths in Social Transformation”.
After all the sessions there were a panel discussion where all the
delegates were clarified their doubts and queries. It was really helpful
to all the participants who actively participated in panel discussion. Tezpur being the old city the delegates were taken to various parks of the city where all the delegates enjoyed. The praise and worship under Mr. Peter Sanga and Prashant Khakhalary was very much appreciated, where the songs of different languages were sung and taught. The cultural Show was the time to express various ethnic dance and celebration of life. Mr. Prashant Khakhalari was the incharge and did very well to entertain the participants and local people. Group song competition was led by Mr. Peter Sanga and Bible Quiz was led by Ms Rose Mary Nag who is also the Diocesan Youth Secretary. The youth expressed their satisfaction and requested that this event should be held every year. Various youth related issues were also discussed in the meeting. The Festival came to an end with a valedictory address by Rev. Michael Herenz followed by a cultural presentation. . |
