Prof. James Thomas appointed Vice Chancellor  

Prof.  James Thomas, Senior Cardiac Surgeon at the National Heart Institute, Delhi has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of the Padmashree Dr. D Y Patil University, Nerul, Navi Mumbai.  The University has Medical, Dental, Education, Biotechnology, Architecture and other 10 Colleges.  Prof. Thomas will also be the Professor of Cardiac Surgery at their 750 bed hospital with undergraduate and PG degree courses.  

Prof. Thomas had set up open heart surgery centre in Wanless Hospital , Miraj, Maharashtra; St. Stephens Hospital , Delhi ; Metro Hospital , Noida and Bir Hospital , Kathmandu , Nepal .  He has been PG teacher, Examiner in post doctoral degrees in Cardiac Surgery in Universities of Delhi, Mumbai and Kolhapur as well as National Board of Examinations.  Over 27 years Dr. Thomas has performed over 8000 heart operations.  

Dr. D Y Patil University is connected to UGC, Association of Indian Universities and Commonwealth Universities .  They also have campuses and colleges in Pune and Kolhapur .  Prof. Thomas is a bonafide member of Church of North India , St. James Congregation at Kashmere Gate.  His wife Mrs. Marina Thomas is the Vice Principal of St. Xavier’s School, Delhi .  We congratulate Prof. Thomas on his new role of leadership and administration.
