A VISIT TO CAMP DIBYABANI DARJEELING ASHAR SAGOR TEERE

Children of Arunima Hospice attended a training camp at Dibyabani, Darjeeling. The Theme was River of Hope. Purpose of the camp was to provide these Life Challenged children living with HIV/AIDS a chance to get away from home for a week and have fun! The children enjoyed debate and mock sessions on different issues related with children, a workshop on Creative Art, Art and Craft, Action song, Western Dance, a Joy Ride on the World Heritage Toy Train from Ghoom to Darjeeling.

The children visited the World famous Himalayan Zoo. In the museum they were amazed to see the archive and equipment’s of the pioneer mountaineers – (Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay). Another amazing experience was a visit to the tea garden. Here the children touched the plants and smelled the green leaves of the tea plants. The host arranged a time for Tea testing and the Children were taught the different ways tea is tested and about the flavors of the world famous Darjeeling Tea.

The Camp also offered the children a chance to express their feelings in a safe therapeutic environment. The training camp at Dibyabani, Darjeeling was made possible by the Rt. Revd. Ashoke Biswas, Bishop of Calcutta and partnership of Rotary Club of Darjeeling.
