Edinburgh 2010 Common Call

Leaders of the Christian World Communities and delegates from over 50 denominations have reaffirmed their commitment to witnessing to Christ during an international conference in Edinburgh to commemorate the 100trh anniversary of the World Missionary Conference held in the Scottish capital in 1910.

The conference culminated on June 6, 2010 with a “Common Call” to Christians and a special historic celebration at the Assembly Halls of the Church of Scotland the venue of the 1910 gathering. Keynote speaker was the Archbishop of York, Dr. John Sentamu. He reminded the members, that Jesus told his followers, “You are my witnesses”. The Anglican Archbishop of York appealed on behalf of “the crucial importance of Christian witness.” Alluding to the gospel account of Peter’s denial of Christ, Sentamu added: “Jesus today is on trial in the court of the world by our lips and lives. Jesus and his gospel are being judged.”....

Moving Against the Current: Two Global Church Networks Merge

The world’s two largest networks of Protestant Churches in the reformed tradition met in Grand Rapids in the northeaster United States from June 18-26, 2010 to form a new organization signaling a new level of relationship between two families of churches once divided from each other.

Cross the Bridge: 3rd South Asia Youth Conference Held in Nepal

The South Asia Christian Youth Network which emerged out of the 1st South Asia Christian Youth Conference “Called For Peace” held in Colombo in May 2002 and was further strengthened by the 2nd South Asia Christian Youth Conference “Gospel and Globalization” held in Bangalore in June 2005, organized its 3rd South Asia Youth Conference under the theme ‘Cross the Bridge’ at Phulbari Resort, Pokhara in Nepal from 16th to 21st May 2010. Church Musician Killed Following International Church Gathering

Indonesian church musician, Christina Mandang, has died from injuries sustained when hit by a car on the closing day of a global church gathering in Grand Rapids, United States. 
Mandang (38) was returning to Calvin College campus shortly after 10:00 p.m. following dinner in a local restaurant when she stepped into the street to avoid a water sprinkler and was hit by a passing car. She was taken to Spectrum-Butterworth hospital where she died.  ....
