CCI GENERAL ASSEMBLY HELD

The third General Assembly of the Communion of Churches in India (Joint Council of the CNI CSI MTC) was held at CNI Bhavan, New Delhi, on March 2-3, 2010. The Most Rev. Purely Lyngdoh, Moderator, Church of North India, The Most Rev. Vasantha Kumar, Moderator, Church of South India and The Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Paulos, Metropolitan, Mar Thoma Church along with the representatives from the three churches participated.

Adv. B. D. Das made a powerful presentation on the unfortunate happenings in Batla, Punjab. The CCI General Assembly in their resolution has expressed deep anguish over the unfortunate happening and decided to convey their solidarity with the CNI Bishop of Amritsar the CNI Diocese of Amritsar and the members of the Epiphany Church and the Salvation Army Church. It was also decided that the three heads of the Churches would make a visit to the affected area.

There were discussions and deliberations on the national issues, issues pertaining to the churches. The Executive Committee was also elected along with other committees for visible expression of working together.

The Most Rev. Purely Lyngdoh, Moderator, Church of North India, is the Presiding Bishop of the Communion of Churches in India and the Rev. Dr. Enos Das Pradhan, General Secretary, CNI Synod is the Hon. Executive Secretary.
