Astronomy & Green Environment – Concert 2009

St. Ursula Girls' High School & Junior College, Nagpur recently organized a concert on with the theme ‘Astronomy’ and The Green Environment. Astronomy compels the soul to look upward and leads us from this world to another, whereas the Green Environment gave the message for the preservation and conservation of the nature and its resources.

After the Bible Reading and opening prayer by Mrs. A.Gaikwad and Mrs. S. Paunikar various songs, dances and dramas touching the theme kept the audience spellbound who appreciated every performance and the hard work put in by the students and teachers. Ursulaties also spread the message of a Green Christmas urging to keep the environment clean and save the natural resources. 

The Ursulaties also paid tribute to the king of pop Michael Jackson through a dance which along with the Indo-western fusion dance performed by the tribal students drew the attention of one and all in the audience. One can really say that each and every person who watched the concert gazed and marveled at the creation taking us on a journey of the entire universe nearly more than 1000 students participated to make the programme a grand success. The historical Marathi play on ‘Shivaji’, the Geographical number on planets and solar system, the western Hip-Hop, Patriotic number, Hindi play with scientific inclination, Taare Zameen pe where in the special children of the school were brought in, the Environmental number, Lavni, Jr. College numbers and the English play were the contents which stood amazing.

The Chief Guest for this program was Hon’ble The Rev. Dr. Enos Das Pradhan, General Secretary, Church of North India and Secretary, CNI MRBE and his wife Mrs. Anuradha Pradhan. The Rev. Dr. Enos Das Pradhan, and Mr. Sudipta Singh, Director, Programmes CNI Synod and Chairperson, Area Committee, CNI MRBE addressed the gathering with their inspiring and encouraging words. The Principal Mrs. Rachna Singh introduced, welcomed and felicitated the guests. The Bal-Mela Committee, sports and the supporting staff were felicitated by the Rev. Dr. Enos Das Pradhan for their timeless and tireless hard work for the growth and development of the school.

Also present on the occasion were Mrs. Priya Chauhan Principal Gardener School, former Principals of the School Mrs. C.P.Singh and Mrs. Asha Gaikwad, former Vice Principal Ms. Victoria Simon, Heads of the Institutions and organizations from the city of Nagpur along with the parents of the school children.. The entire programme was conceptualized by Mrs. Rachna Singh, Principal along with creative inputs from convener Mrs. Parvati Joseph. 

A newly constructed wing of the Jr. College was dedicated in the fond memory of Late Dr. Ashish Bhelwa as “ASHISH” by the Rev. Dr. Enos Das Pradhan. Dr. Peter Bhelwa and Mrs. Flora Bhelwa parents of Dr. Ashish Bhelwa were present on the occasion. The school Principle Mrs. Rachna Singh was also felicitated for her outstanding, innovative and dedicated services. 

Abhilasha, Surbhi and Diksha the students of X Std. anchored the programme. Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mrs. Alka Tayade. The programme ended with the National Anthem.
