Malaysian High Commissioner Assures Safety of Christians in Malaysia

The Rev. Dr. Enos Das Pradhan, General Secretary of the Church of North India, Deputy Moderator, Council for World Mission and the Hon. Executive Secretary of the Communion of Churches in India led a delegation of Church leaders representing the Council for World Mission South Asia Regional Council to meet His Excellency Dato Tan Seng Sung, Malaysian High Commissioner at his residence. The CWM SARC comprises of Church of North India, Church of South India, Presbyterian Church in India and Church of Bangladesh.

The High Commissioner, while responding to the Memorandum sent by The Rev. Dr. Enos Das Pradhan, on January 22, 2010 to the Malaysian Prime Minister and the High Commissioner assured that the Government of Malaysia has taken all precautions to safeguard the Church in Malaysia. He also informed the delegation that three persons were arrested.

On behalf of the Malaysian Prime Minister, he informed that the Government of Malaysia has worked towards making the situation normal and assured that all precautions are being taken to bring normalcy. He assured of their support and cooperation with the Church and its membership.

The High Commissioner himself being a Christian he was concerned about the Church in Malaysia. He further enquired about the Christians in India.
