CNI Celebrate 60th Republic Day of India
On 26th January 2010, Church of North India joined with over a billion of Indians to celebrate the 60th year of Republic. India fought for freedom for a long time, lost many lives and finally achieved what it rightfully deserved. It was on 15th August, 1947 India got freedom and still India was in chaos with the after-war situation. The responsibility of India before Independence was to fight for freedom and after India got freedom, the main concern was how to govern the country judiciously.
On 26th January 1950 India became a Sovereign State and on this charming day the constitution of India came into force. Then, this particular day was proclaimed as the Republic Day of India. Every year the 26th January is observed as the Republic Day of India. Now India is politically free but economically or technically it is hard to say India has achieved freedom. Still India is a developing country when many nations, who got freedom even after India’s constitution had set, have become developed countries or much more developed than India. But India has plenty of resources to make its berth noticeable in global economy and development.
Republic Day of India is celebrated with great zeal and this day imparts the patriotic feeling of those old days to the people of India and the flag hosting and unfurling ceremony of tricolor is observed in all the States of India. At its Programme Office in Nagpur, where all the Synod Secretariat staffs were camping for a retreat the Tricolor, Indian National Flag was hoisted by Mr. Kalyan Peterson, Treasurer of CNI Synod. After a prayer for the nation by Rev. Dr. Enos Das Pradhan, General Secretary of the Synod, all the staffs joined in unison to sing the National Anthem. Similarly, the day was celebrated all over the Church of North India and many colorful cultural programmes and patriotic activities were organized to mark the day!
