CLAUDIA PROCULA NARZARY SELECTED FOR CCA-EGY INDIGENOUS WOMEN’S INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME

Claudia Procula Narzary, a Bodo women belonging to St. John’s Church, Assam, under the Diocese of Eastern Himalaya, Church of North India has been selected to undergo nine months Young Indigenous/Dalit Women’s Internship Programme in Thailand, organized by the Christian Conference of Asia – Ecumenical Formation, Gender Justice and Youth Empowerment department.

Christian Conference of Asia _ Ecumenical Formation, Gender Justice and Youth Empowerment (CCA- EGY) in order to promote leadership development has initiated this internship program especially for indigenous and dalit women in Asia. In 2009 CCA welcomed a young indigenous or dalit women from India (aged 24- 34 years) to serve as intern in CCA office in Chaingmai for a period of nine months. The programme aims at looking for indigenous or dalit women Intern who is committed to the ideals of the ecumenical movement, to bring their energy, commitment and fresh vision to a specific work assignment. For the CCA, interns represent the potential of the ecumenical movement, and its search for a renewed vocation. After Claudia finishes the internship she will be responsible for organizing group training in her home country in collaboration with the sending Church and organization. This internship this year was chosen from India and Claudia was selected for her commitment in bringing awarness among the tribal and dalit women about their rights and justice issues. 

Claudia has done her B. Th. and Bachelor of Divinity from Bishop’s College, Kolkatta.
