North East India Diocese Had Its 19th Ordinary Diocesan Council  

The 9th  Ordinary Diocesan council of the Diocese of North East India, Church of North India was held on the Sylvan Dee campus of Old Mission Campus, Tezpur, Assam from 28-31st  January 2009 under the Presidentship of The Most Rev. Purely Lyngdoh, Moderator of Church of North India and the Bishop of Diocese of North East India.  

Dr. Paul Petta, Diocesan Secretary welcomed the delegates to the council. The Most Rev. Purely Lyngdoh was felicitated by the Diocese for his elevation to the office of the Moderator. Moderator in his address challenged the council “to take positively the uphill tasks at hand and come together to build our diocese a worshipping community and a strong church.” Rev, Michael Herenz led two Bible studies on the theme of the Diocesan Council “Not to conform, but to reform to transform” Rom.12:2.  

The Business sessions included the reports from the different wings of the Diocese.  The Council elected the Rev. B.K. Topno, as Vice President, Rev. Michael Herenz as Secretary and Rev. G. S. Shullai as Treasure.  While Mr. Samuel Sangma was elected the Diocesan youth President and Mr. Austin Kawa and Youth Secretary. The other committees were also duly constituted.  The council meeting ended with the dedication of new office bearers and Executive members.
