'Ebenezer' was exclaimed at the Quasquicentennial Celebration of Hislop College 

Hislop College, one of the oldest colleges in the orange city of Nagpur run by the Church of North India, was ecstatic when the gathering exclaimed in tune with the Moderator of Church of North India ‘EBENEZER’ (God has led thus far!) on the closing ceremony of its quasquicentennial celebration on 29th November 2008.  The year long celebration came to an end with a thanksgiving worship service held on Saturday, 29th November 2008 in the college quadrangle at 6:00PM.  The Most Rev. Purely Lyngdoh, Moderator of Church of North India graced the occasion as Chief Guest.  The other dignitaries and guests of honour included Deputy Moderator of CNI Rt. Rev. Dr. Philip Marandih, Rev. Dr. Enos Das Pradhan, General Secretary of CNI and Chairman of Hislop Education Society, and Mr. Kalyan Peterson, Treasurer of CNI along with some Vice Chancellors, Politicians, Social Activists, Scientists and Athletes who were former students of Hislop College. 

Over the years the college has made rapid progress both in academics and in sports.  To its academic credit, several new Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses including Masters of Science in Biotechnology, Botany, Zoology; Masters of Arts in Psychology and Economics; Master of Commerce, MBA, MCA and many other vocational courses have been started.  Recently Nagpur University had recognized Hislop College as a place of higher learning leading to doctoral research in Biochemistry, Botany and Chemistry.  These developments have given Hislop College a unique identity of being the only College in Central India to offer integrated education from the Junior College to doctoral research level. 

The College, in its 125 years of glorious journey has produced many eminent personalities in the field of education, science, politics, and fine arts etc. who are now shaping the destiny of India.  Through its academic excellence and professionalism the Hislop College has established a culture of discipline and commitment for the welfare of the nation.  As an institution it has excelled not only in curricular performance but also in extracurricular activities earning a name for itself both nationally and internationally.  Managed by the Church of North India through Hislop Education Society the college has contributed substantially to the development of science and technology and time and again has created students friendly environment in its premises.  Its meritorious position in terms of results declared is astounding and is on the rise. 

 

As the college celebrated 125 years of existence and service it also celebrated the efficiency of its students in various fields and professions.  On this auspicious occasion many of the Alumni who are living testimonials of the academic excellence of Hislop College were honoured by the Moderator of Church of North India.
