Programme on Leadership Effectiveness for Women’s Leader’s held  

A three-day programme on Leadership Effectiveness for Women Leader’s was organized by the Church of North India-Synodical Women ’s Fellowship for Christian Service at the Center for Human Potential Development, Nagpur .  35 women from the different dioceses of the Church of North India attended the programme. On the first day as the participants gathered together in the meeting place –KOINONIA  the programme was inaugurated by lighting and floating of the lamps by the President of the CNI- SWFCS, Rev. Arpana Rangayya, Margaret Sawyer and Judith Simms from the Methodist in Britain and 2 women representing the participants.   

The Bible Studies were led by Rev. Mrs. Arpana Rangayya who reflected on the leadership qualities of Women in the Old Testament and the Women in the New Testament.  The Key Note Address was delivered by Mrs. P.P. Masih, the President of the Church of North India-Synodical Women ’s Fellowship for Christian Service. Mrs. Masih emphasized on the involvement, potentials, accepting the challenges, being a good communicator, being disciplined, building relationships etc to be an effective leader.  Judith Simms and Margaret Sawyer were the two special guests who were on a visit to the some of the dioceses of the Church of North India to gain insight and understanding of the trafficking of women and children in the region. Margaret and Judith who works for the Women’s Network took time to share with the women what is the Women’s Network all about and also the situation in regard to women and girl child back in the UK and how they are working with the Millinium Development Goals (MDG’s). Margaret and Judith encouraged the women of the Church of North India so as how we can help one another in our mission and how we can connect the issue of girl child and the gender issues.   

On the first day the sessions were taken over by Ms. Sadhona Ganguly on the topic, “Understanding Patriarchy” and “Women and Stewardship” where she further reflected on the family, society and the Church and the need to evolve the new way. And to use our talents in a more effective way. On the second day, the sessions were taken over by Mr. Sudipta Singh, the Director of Programmes-Church of North India Synod where he reflected on the Mission of God. What is the Mission of God? He further challenged how the women of the CNI are involved in the reign of God? And what God require of us and what are the interventions needed? The Session on Trafficking on Women and Children was also taken over by the Director of Programmes where the whole issue of trafficking in women and children were discussed at length. The Director of Programmes CNI Synod further challenged to link up other organizations in our own cities and that Church of North India Synodical Women ’s Fellowship should have a year long programme to do God’s Mission .  

2nd of March being Sunday, all the participants and the resource persons attended the Sunday Morning Worship Service at the All Saints’ Cathedral where they were given a hearty welcome. After the Church Service, all the women joined at the Fellowship Tea after which they came back to the venue and finally worked on the Plan of Action. The Action Plan was prepared in groups according to the Diocese keeping in mind what they would do after going back to their own Churches/ dioceses.  The programme came to an end with a special closing prayer offered by Judith Simms of the Women’s Network after which everyone joined in saying the Lord’s Prayer together.
